I read a lot of articles about wine in my effort to stay up-to-date as well as have things to post on our Facebook , Google + and Pinterest pages and I have come across a couple of interesting things lately.  The headline of “Wine Infused Popcorn” grabbed my attention…Pinot Noir Drizzle and Sauvignon Blanc Kettle Cor.  They are designed to be paired with their respective wines and enhance the flavour of both the wine and the popcorn.  Sounds like a great movie night doesn’t it??

The other article was talking about a new line of wines in France that are fruity flavoured or even cola flavoured…Sacré Bleu!!!  Wine snobs are denouncing these wines, but like everything in life, taste is very personal.  For people with a sweeter tooth, these flavoured wines are a great alternative.  I know that we sell a lot of our fruity wines (Island Mist) and they are not for everyone, but there is no shame in liking something light and sweet!

Not your Grandfather’s Port!!

Chocolate Raspberry Port & Chocolate Orange Port are now available to order.  They will arrive in the store in September and take us six weeks to make. Each kit makes 15 of the 750ml bottles or 30 of the small 375ml bottles.  These are a decadent dessert wine or a lovely sipper during the cold winter months.  Contact us by email or phone at 384-2955 to reserve one or more.  These beauties sell out every year, so don’t miss out!

Limited Editions

We have several of this years Limited Edition wines that have become available and we will be selling on a first come, first serve basis.  Give us a call at 384-2955 or send us an e-mail and we will let you know what we have left!

California Dreaming!

It’s not easy keeping up with the top 3 wine producing countries in the world: France, Italy & Spain. But with 90% of United States wine being produced in California, you might say the Golden State is willing to work pretty hard to hold their coveted 4th place spot.

Try some of these popular varietals made from grapes grown in the California sunshine and take $15 off for the month of July (regular price $169)

  • Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot
  • Merlot
  • Sauvignon Blanc
  • Gewurztraminer
  • White Merlot
  • White Zinfandel

Food Pairing Idea

Having friends over???

The easiest wine pairing EVER is a great off-dry white wine like Selection Gewurztraminer (which just happens to be on sale this month) with pretzels or plain potato chips.  Something about the salt and sweetness together just works!  Let us know what you think.
